Circular to Companies

The year 2002 witnessed the launching of 'IR Services on-line', a suite of on-line services available to taxpayers and tax practitioners over the Internet.

The services currently available on IR Services on-line enable authorised tax practitioners to:
  • file Income Tax Returns and Financial Statements
  • submit Provisional Tax Reduction forms
  • access their clients' accounts to confirm payments and tax statements
  • access their clients' tax return submission status
By filing your company tax return over the Internet, you and your tax practitioner will further benefit from:
  • Electronic and Faster Acknowledgements: an acknowledgement will be issued on-line
  • Electronic Validations: the validations and warnings in-built in the Company Tax Return Spreadsheet will warn you of whether there are errors or missing information before you submit the Tax Return
  • Accuracy: The Inland Revenue will not re-key the data submitted electronically hence typing errors will be eliminated and there will be no subjective interpretation of data.
  • Better Time Management: the accuracy and error-checking in the electronic filing environment will reduce unnecessary queries
  • Reduced Paper: you do not have to send paper copies of the Tax Return or Financial Statements
  • Improved Taxpayer Services: information will be available from your tax practitioner's PC over 24 hours.
The feedback received from tax practitioners who have utilised the facilities provided by IR Services on-line is very encouraging. This is manifested by the increase in the number of applications for access to the on-line services provided by the department.

Tax Practitioners have to be authorised by you in order to be able to access these facilities. You are encouraged to authorise your tax practitioner for these electronic services by completing Authority Form IRWEB02. Your co-operation in this regard will support the department in its endevour to extend the range of services provided on-line for the benefit of all.

Should you decide to miss out on the facilities offered by IR Services on-line and still opt for manual filing please note that the spreadsheet version (version 1.03) of the income tax return for year of assessment 2003 can be downloaded from here. This version has been slightly modified to incorporate all legislative changes for the year.
